Amazon’s palm-scanning payment technology, Amazon One, is set for a significant expansion throughout the United States.

The retail giant announced that this payment tech will be introduced in all 500+ Amazon-owned Whole Foods Market stores nationwide by the end of the year.

The biometric payment system operates by having customers hover their palm above a reader device, which then identifies their unique palm signature and associates it with their payment card on file, enabling seamless transactions for their purchases.

Since its launch in 2020, Amazon One’s service has rapidly expanded to over 400 locations across the U.S., with more than 3 million uses recorded, Tech Crunch has reported.

These locations include Amazon’s retail stores, such as Amazon Go convenience stores, as well as various sports stadiums, entertainment venues, and travel retailers at several U.S. airports.
