Walking the Hermosa Beach Pier

Join us on a early morning scroll on the South Bay's Hermosa Beach Pier. In 1904 the first pier was built. It was constructed entirely of wood even to the pilings and it extended five hundred feet out into the ocean. In 1913 the old pier was partly washed away and later torn down and a new one was built to replace it. The new pier was built of concrete 1,000 feet long, and paved with asphalt to its entire length. Today, the pier continues to be a beloved landmark and gathering place for fishing, and enjoying panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean.
