A poem exploring the state of modern gaming and why it often feels like gaming is no longer fun. This a tribute to all of the videos on "why modern gaming sucks" or "gaming is dead". Hope you enjoy!

The Poem:

In worlds of code and virtual realms, Where pixels dance and dreams unfurl, There lies a lament, a solemn verse, For modern gamers, caught in turmoil.

Once, in ages past, gaming was pure, A simple joy, a heartfelt escape, But now, a different tale is told, Where hollow spectacles take shape.

Gone are the days of depth and soul, Of stories woven with tender care, Now replaced by greed and empty quests, As capitalism's jaws ensnare.

Microtransactions, loot boxes galore, A soulless marketplace takes its toll, Exploiting passions, draining wallets, In the name of profit, they extol.

Artistry drowned in corporate seas, Creativity crushed beneath the weight, Endless sequels, clones that bore, Originality made to abate.

Online battles, toxic and loud, Where camaraderie is lost in strife, Trolls and cheaters, venomous crowds, Diminishing the essence of life.

Disconnected, we sit alone, Screens aglow, our faces blank, Human touch replaced by pixels, As the real world drifts, our hearts sank.

Yet amidst this desolate gaming scene, A flicker of hope begins to rise, Indie gems and passion projects, A glimmer of light 'neath darkened skies.

They remind us of gaming's soul, Of the magic it once held so dear, With heartfelt stories and art profound, They whisper, "There's still something here."

So let us seek those cherished gems, Unearth the treasures hidden deep, For within the realm of modern games, A spark of wonder we may yet keep.

In this digital landscape, fraught and frayed, May we find solace, may we find grace, And remember, in this virtual age, To cherish the games that touch our innermost place.
