Canadians will be cooking less food but the government is busy cooking the numbers. As prices rise in most items that people need to survive have been sharply increasing, the prices of cell phones and internet service have fallen at a greater rate, so it's a good thing that the government put these items in the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
