At the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station in Antarctica is the IceCube Neutrino Observatory, a one-of-a-kind detector encompassing a kilometer of ice deep under the surface with over 5,000 sensors. The observatory searches for signs of high-energy neutrinos, the ghost-like cosmic rays that are all around us but hard to see due to contamination from our atmosphere.
