Man fired from Louisiana shipyard returns to kill 2 former coworkers

According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, a man who had recently been terminated from a shipyard in Louisiana returned to his former workplace and fatally shot two ex-coworkers.

The identity of the suspect has not been disclosed, but he was engaged in a shootout with deputies and died less than two hours after the incident.

Deputies responded to the FMT Shipyard in Harvey, located across the Mississippi River from New Orleans, around 1 p.m.

They discovered two individuals unresponsive, with at least one gunshot wound, and unfortunately, both were pronounced dead at the scene, NBC News reported.

The sheriff’s office is withholding the victims’ identities until their next of kin can be notified.
