IGAD, FAO COMMEND NEW TECHNOLOGY AT KAWANDA IN A BID TO FIGHT ARMY WORM

National Agriculture Research Laboratories in Kawanda is in the process of developing a pest control technology where insects are bred to eat pests.
The German funded research innovation is aimed at controlling the fall army worm which consumes maize among other crops.
This was part of the benchmarking tour by IGAD member countries on how use of pesticides could be reduced in fighting pests and diseases.
