Getting the Oldest Tattoos in the World

Today we have a video that is slightly different. For many years now I have planned on getting the tattoos of Otzi the Ice Man as a symbolic way of carrying this defining archaeological discovery with me. At a young age it was Otzi that got me interested in archaeology and by proxy brought me to where I am today. These tattoos date back a shocking 5,700 years to the transition of the ancient world from the Neolithic to the bronze age. These markings are believed to have served a therapeutic purpose in much the same way as acupuncture. This determination was derived from the fact that Otzi was found to have been suffering from arthritis as a result of being afflicted with Lyme disease. Join me as we bring this 6000 year old story to life.
