This is my first time fly fishing. So I won't be the one showing you how to fly fish. Our awesome guide Grant will be the one showing you how to fly fish and what fly fishing is all about!

We are at the Cold Springs Trout Farm in Ogden Utah and it's December so yes it is cold! We are fly fishing in snow, my fingers were very cold the whole time! This trout farm was the perfect introduction to Utah fly fishing. It let me catch some trout and learn how to use a fly rod.

Grant starts by telling us about the 3 main different flys used when fly fishing:
A Streamer fly - represents a bigger bait fish
A Nymph fly - represents an underwater bug. 80% of a trouts diet.
A Dry fly - a small bug/fly that floats on top of the water

All these flies can catch trout but depending on what the trout are currently feeding on is the best fly to use to catch a trout. We catch all sorts of trout in this fishing episode. Mainly rainbow trout but we also catch a steelhead trout and a tiger trout.

This is going to be such a good catch and cook episode. The owner of the trout farm (Neil Barker) shows us how to clean trout. So I guess this is more of a catch clean and cook episode rather than just a catch n cook! Big thanks for showing us how to clean trout Neil Barker!

I also show how to cook trout. In this episode I am making a baked trout. I am also told that breaded and fried trout tastes great. It tastes even better knowing we did a catch clean cook on these trout. From river to plate!

Rainbow trout are such beautiful fish. Fly fishing in Utah was a beautiful experience and I can't wait to be back. Next time we will try and fly fish some public rivers. The Cold Springs Trout Farm is a great place to learn how to fish and have a great time with the family.
