It has been windy so we can't go offshore. Dan from Florida Fishing Couple decides to pick me up in his boat and we set off to do some tarpon and snapper fishing. We use live bait with the knocker rig. A knocker rig is very similar to your traditional snapper rig. The main difference is that the knocker rig the weight goes all the way to the hook and usually on a snapper rig there is a crimp on the line 6-12 inches above the hook to stop the weight from sliding down.

I think the knocker rig here in the Florida bay is the perfect mangrove snapper rig. It works great with live bait and dead bait. For live bait we use mullet, pinfish and pilchards on the South Florida Fishing Channel knocker rig. For dead bait you can use shrimp, cut squid, cut ballyhoo and event cut barracuda for bait on the snapper rig.

After catching mangrove snapper I was to come up with a creative way of cooking fish. Fish pancakes is something I haven't tried in a while, so I guess i'm cooking snapper pancakes in this South Florida Fishing Channel cooking episode.

I really enjoy catching and cooking fish. I had a great day fishing in the Key Largo Bay here in Florida and it's always a great time targeting mangrove snapper with the proper rig.
