Two Laws In The US? Pentagon “Leaker” Calls for Detention Re-Look, Citing Reprieve for Donald Trump

Jack Teixeira, a Massachusetts Air National Guardsman charged with leaking classified Pentagon documents, has requested the judge to reconsider his detention. Teixeira compared his case to that of former US President Donald Trump, noting that prosecutors did not oppose Trump's release while opposing his own. In May, a judge ruled that Teixeira would remain in jail until his trial under the Espionage Act, deeming him a continuing threat to national security. Teixeira's lawyers argued that he lacked the means and motivation to flee, highlighting that Trump and his aide were not asked to surrender their passports despite facing similar charges. Teixeira's defence proposed his release to his father's custody, with strict confinement and monitoring.
