This is a short footage of the 7th British Car Jumping Championship held on a racing track in Angmering village in West Sussex. Drivers attempt to fly over a line of eight pairs of wrecked cars, speeding up a ramp, seeking to fly over wrecks and land safely on the opposite side in the annual contest, with each jump judged on elevation, crowd reception and distance. A dozen competitors switch off their brains and go full throttle. The winner goes the furthest, regardless of the touchdown. This is dangerous. People can be injured. Doctors are at the competition to help.

At this event, Dean Archer was crowned champion after escaping unharmed with the title. You can see him airborne and then somersaulting his old Opel Corsa head down into the bed of cars. The winner gets a monetary compensation, usually in the amount of 50 pounds and besides that, he also wins the respect of the other drivers until the next championship the next year. It goes without saying that he will also probably win some beer from his friends.
