Iran Brings Back Morality Police Patrol to Enforce Hijab Law

On Sunday, Iranian authorities initiated a new campaign aimed at enforcing the mandatory Islamic headscarf for women, and subsequently, the morality police resurfaced on the streets.

This development occurred after a hiatus of 10 months since the death of a woman in their custody, which had triggered widespread protests throughout the country.

The aftermath of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini’s tragic demise last September had led to a partial withdrawal of the morality police, the Associated Press reported.

This retreat was a response to the massive demonstrations that erupted nationwide, demanding the overthrow of the longstanding theocratic regime that has governed Iran for more than four decades.
