Millions of people will ‘pay the price’ for Russia’s withdrawal from grain deal, UN chief warns

During a press conference at UN headquarters in New York Monday, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres denounced Russia’s decision to terminate the Black Sea Initiative. The critical deal, an agreement between Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, and the UN, ensured the safe exporting of grain and fertilizer from Ukrainian ports despite Russia’s mass control of the Black Sea. Guterres said Russia’s withdrawal from the deal will be felt worldwide as Ukraine accounts for 10% of the world’s wheat market.
