We Should To Stop Doing This To NBA Prospects (Victor Wembanyama Rant)

NBA fans and NBA media need to stop hyping up young prospects when they come into the league. Victor Wembanyama was drafted last month and leading up to the draft Victor was touted as the greatest prospect of all time, some said that he was a better prospect than Lebron James was when he was coming into the NBA, and in my opinion, that is just false. Lebron James was on the cover of sports illustrated at the young age of 16 and his high school games were televised on ESPN he was anointed as the chosen one, the next coming of Michael Jordan himself. Although I don't think it was right to put that amount of pressure on Lebron at that age Lebron James more than lived up to the hype winning 4 NBA championships, 4 MVPs, and breaking the all-time scoring title, and is in the conversation of most excellent basketball ever. Although Lebron James was able to live up to the hype it isn't a good thing that we put so much pressure on young players. leading up to the draft there were pundits and analysts who proclaimed that if Victor Wembanyama is as good as Dirk Nowitzki was then he is a bust which is none sense and unfair. because Dirk is a Hall of famer, this just serves to highlight the absurdity of the hype cycle that young NBA prospects have to go through. and it showed in Victor's first NBA summer league game in which he only had 9 points 8 rebounds and 5 blocks, a stat line many on the internet pointed as evidence he was a bust, which was unfair this was his first NBA game and not even a formal one the next game Victor silenced the doubters and had 27 points and was promptly shut down thereafter by the San San Antonio Spurs. This happens way too often Last year the NBA media did the same thing to Chet Holmgren and Lamelo Ball 3 years ago. and I know they will do the same thing to the next generation of prospects. Bronny James is set to enter the draft and will most likely have pressure put on him due to his namesake and being the son of Lebron James. But this is wrong putting this much pressure on young adults isn't good for their mental health and can lead to mental breakdowns or depression when they don't live up to the hype surrounding their names. and that is why we should stop hyping up prospects.
