When is a win not really a win? Well, Adrien Broner’s ninth-round TKO victory over Ashley Theophane on Friday night seems to qualify, for a multitude of reasons. Almost as soon as the fight was waved off some questioned if it was a good stoppage. The replay showed, well maybe not. As the two fighters battled against the ropes, Broner landed a low blow that the referee missed. When Theophane raised his hand to get the attention of the referee, it was mistaken as the fighter indicating that he had had enough, and the referee called the fight. From there, things got worse for Broner. Theophane is part of Floyd Mayweather’s stable of fighters, and as Mayweather stood in the corner of his fighter, Broner, with boos raining down on him, called out the retired Mayweather.
