The fig tree represents Israel and her people many times in Scripture. The fruitfulness of the fig tree in Matt. 24 signifies a fruitful nation of Israel. In 33 A.D., when Christ told this parable, the nation of Israel was under foreign occupation. It was not a fig tree with leaves, indicating summer was near. PDF Notes:
