Comix Zone : Genesis Mega Drive
Comix Zone is a 1995 beat'em up video game originally developed by Sega for the Mega Drive. An unusual feature of the game is that it is set within the frames of a comic book, with dialogue represented by speech bubbles and sprites, and backdrops with the colors and dynamic drawing style of a superhero story. The style had previously been used in video games, such as Batman: The Caped Crusader, Ocean Software's 1988 game,[1] but Comix Zone developed the idea to such an extent that Sega applied for and obtained a patent for one " Electronic game creation system that simulates a comic book".[2]
The game's concept originated from a demo video animated by Peter Morawice for the Commodore Amiga entitled "Joe Pencil Trapped In The Comix Zone".[3] The video was made in 1992, showing how gameplay and comic elements would merge
