I appreciate that the battery arrived in perfect condition, with no issues. However, I must admit that I was a bit disappointed with its range, as it can only go 15-20 miles with a 40 amp controller.
I was hoping for more, but I understand that there are limitations. In terms of fit, it snugly fits my large frame Northrock xc00, with no room for anything else.
However, I want to point out that the battery is not waterproof out of the box. I had to take additional steps by adding rtv silicone around the edges to ensure that no water can seep in.
On the positive side, the charger provided seems to be of good quality. I have been pleasantly surprised at how fast it charges the battery. It is definitely efficient in that regard.
However, it is important to note that the batterys bms (battery management system) is a 60 amp bms. But it is crucial not to expect this battery to handle 60 amps constantly, as the cells in this setup can only handle about 40 amps continuously as a collective.
Therefore, I would not recommend running it with anything larger than a 40 amp controller. This is precisely why the product description states a maximum wattage of 3360w, which is calculated by multiplying 84 (voltage) by 40 (maximum amperage).
It is important to be aware of this, as running the battery at 60 amps could potentially lead to a fire hazard. Despite these concerns, I must admit that the battery has proven to be very strong so far.
It holds a solid charge and seems to last a very long time. I havent even run the battery low yet, mainly because I dont use the throttle much. I prefer pedaling most of the time, and I have the motor programmed to assist me on hills.
However, on level ground, the motor doesnt run much at all. Overall, while there are a few drawbacks and potential safety concerns, this battery is still a great option.
It arrived in perfect condition, fits my bike snugly, charges quickly, and has a strong performance. Just make sure to be mindful of its limitations and not exceed the recommended amperage usage.
