Halloween is just around the corner and that means it’s time for candy! We here at The Savory LOVE caramel apples, but we wanted to take things a step further so we’re going to make DRUNK caramel apples! Here’s what you’ll need: 4 Tbsps. Bourbon¼ tsp. Kosher Sea Salt½ Cup Corn Syrup1 Cup Brown Sugar1 Cup White SugarApple Sticks4 Tbsps. Unsalted Butter2 Cups Half and Half 4 Honey Crisp ApplesMedium SaucepanLarge sealable container that fits ALL the applesCookie SheetGreaseStart by peeling your apples. You’ll need to submerge them in your Bourbon and let them soak in the fridge for 2 days so plan ahead! To make the caramel sauce start by adding 2 Tbsps. of butter to your saucepan, 1 Cup of half and half, ½ cup of white and brown sugar each, ¼ tsp. salt, and ½ cup corn syrup.Whisk the ingredients together to a smooth consistency as you bring the mixture to a boil then set the whisk aside. Do NOT continue whisking.Turn down the heat down to medium and cook until it’s the color of Caramel (amber). Add 2 tsp. of bourbon and gently stir in.As the mixture cools, skewer your apples and swirl them in the mix until covered making sure to let excess fall off. Place them on a greased cookie sheet, place in a fridge for 1 hour, and enjoy!
