Developed for the Cable channel Bravo the show saw a group of homosexual men, called the Fab-5, who were experts in various lifestyle related fields from fashion to food assisting a heterosexual man improve aspects of his life, normally with the focus being on the hosting of some kind of event which also acted as reveal for the straight man’s transformation.

Praised in its first season it also received a great deal of criticism and not just from homophobic quarters: some people felt the show actually perpetuated the stereotypes of the art oriented and effete homosexual

A revival was launched on Netflix in 2018 with a new Fab-5 and does not exclusively seek to aid “straight guys”
