The Death of YouTube will birth Synthetic Media // Black Mirror

I think this ad scandal is pretty bad. We will see how it plays out and whether the allegations are correct or not. But if they are, YouTube will have to either be a narrative generation machine like it is...or a media company focused on ad sales. It won't be able to be both.

When faced with this challenge, my prediction, is that the platform with escape Section 230 liabilities and the revolt of YT creators with a predictable reduction in profit splits, by essentially creating the black mirror for real.

An AI program that creates video media content from scratch with embedded tailored ads using the billions of hours of content already uploaded to the platform as training data...to cut out the middle man and keep all profits while creating tailored narratives and ads all while continuing to hold on to its social power...

Imagine you want to see the interactions between the characters of Harry Potter as a normal day in the life of...just see their classes and interactions...or between Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther and Kilmonger in the afterlife debating who was right and who was wrong about how to deal with white supremacy...well...just ask...and ChatGPT or Google's (probably way...way...more powerful) version will create it for you and individually charge your card for the $1 or 2 to license the content from Marvel for the video....

Let's say you want to watch a feature length movie...well pay a little more for the AI to render your cut scenes....give it generic data about what you want to see and which actors you want to see in it...a general plot direction if you want...use a slide to how severe or how often you want a plot twist to occur...

an viola...

you have Kevin Hart, Eddie Murphy, and Bernie Mac in 3 men and a baby... Or you have an extra episodes of Martin that never existed....or Friends....or STARGATE UNIVERSE!!!!!! think about the current writers strike...and actor's guild strike...think about how those "strikes" are just facilitating this black mirror...because as soon as the black mirror shows you this content...they will charge you and Martin/Kevin/Eddie/and Bernie's estate will get their cut...or you can elect to include and ad and YT can come through its data about you, including their medical records inferred through your searches and figure out that you aren't brushing your teeth for long enough and you have the early stages of gingivitis and you need to switch your toothpaste....so shows you the movie but flooded with embedded ads for the latest Colgate

Instead of tending and trimming the orchard, YT can serve the poison laced juice directly to you in a cup...and tilt it into your mouth...
