Diablo Immortal is a Free-to-Play Large Scale MMO (Massively Multi-player Online) Game created by Blizzard.

This game continues the Diablo story and can be played on a normal desktop (which is how this video was recorded) or a mobile device. Accounts can be synchronized so progress in one form is carried onto the other.

〰️〰️〰️ What kind of game is Diablo Immortal? 〰️〰️〰️

Diablo Immortal is a “hack and slash” game which involves killing demons, beasts and other forms of adventuring dangers in the quest of doing good deeds, saving the world and of course, obtaining better loot.

〰️〰️〰️ Is Diablo Immortal “Pay to Win”? What do you get for spending real world money? 〰️〰️〰️

According to Blizzard, money payments can be applied to cosmetic appearances and to purchase materials. One can play the entire story without needing to spend real world cash.

My experience is that while it would speed things up, spending cash is not necessary to enjoy the game.

〰️〰️〰️ Is there any objectionable material in Diablo Immortal? 〰️〰️〰️

As you would expect in a hack-and-slash game, there is lots of animated violence - typically blood, guts and gore.
While female characters can show some cleavage, they are not overly sexualized or objectified.

〰️〰️〰️ Is Diablo Immortal fun to play? Is the game challenging? Is this game a grind? 〰️〰️〰️

Blizzard typically makes their games a little easy on the front side and slowly ramps up the difficulty once one has spent some time with the game.

This model appears to be used here as well. One should easily get to level 15 or 20 with no real difficulty.

〰️〰️〰️ Is Diablo Immortal playable on a mobile device? 〰️〰️〰️

Blizzard says Diablo Immortal can be played on a mobile device. This game would not load in Bluestacks, an Android emulator for mobile devices, so I do not have direct experience on mobile game play.

Based on the PC version, I do not see how one can reasonably enjoy playing Diablo Immortal on a mobile device. This game takes 27 Gigabytes of space on my PC. While I expect that number to be smaller for mobile devices, even one (1) gigabyte would tax many mobile devices.

Secondly, the controls work well with a keyboard. If one has a portable controller, this would be helpful for playing this game on a mobile device. One needs to move the character and press a key which will activate the spell or action the character is to use. How this can be done without a controller and still be enjoyable, I simply do not see.

〰️〰️〰️ What about in-game advertisements? How many are there? How intrusive are they? Do you get anything for enduring them? 〰️〰️〰️

While there is the customary in-game offers for in-game items, I have not encountered any 3rd party advertising. 😊️ This is definitely a good thing.

〰️〰️〰️ What is the story in Diablo Immortal? 〰️〰️〰️

The events of Diablo Immortal takes place five (5) years after Diablo 2. The story centers around a demon trying to collect shards of the Worldstone - which was destroyed in Diablo 2 - in order to do bad things. You - the hero - need to prevent this from happening.

Blizzard is not known for writing engaging stories and this one certainly follows suit.

〰️〰️〰️ Is this a commitment game or a casual game? 〰️〰️〰️

Diablo Immortal is definitely a commitment game. While there are side quests and dungeons which can be done in fifteen (15) minutes or so, this game is meant as a primary game - to be played when one has significant downtime.

This is the repeatable dungeon Mad King's Breech. It is required to do this dungeon as the player progresses through the story.

Blizzard partners with NetEase to handle the micro-transactions and to handle the details of bringing the game into China. Some people may be uncomfortable with this arrangement.
