Speaker McCarthy: Military will receive the ‘biggest pay raise in decades’ under new defense bill

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) addressed the Republican-sponsored amendments added to the 2023 National Defense Authorization Act during a press conference in Washington Friday. The NDAA passed the House in a broadly bipartisan 219-210 vote. However, the defense bill’s future in the Senate looks uncertain as Democrats have voiced their objection to the proposed amendments.
