Have you ever thought of using molten iron to make fireworks? This is one of China’s intangible cultural heritage, iron flower making. It is a long-standing traditional folk firework, originating from the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. Performers use hot iron to hit a flower shed, creating a dazzling iron flower rain, while igniting fireworks and firecrackers, creating a spectacular scene. This video is a performance of iron flower making that I recorded in the Wannv Resort in Shangrao, Jiangxi Province. Let’s enjoy the charm of this thousand-year-old traditional firework together.
