The NYPD shot an armed man in Crown Heights Wednesday afternoon, on Montgomery Street between Kingston and Brooklyn Avenues.
According to initial information from the scene, it appears that the man was involved in a hit and run accident just after 12:00PM, and when police ordered him to stop, he refused. He then reportedly pointed a firearm at oficers, at which point police officers shot the man.
He was then arrested and taken into custody, while being treated by EMS for his injuries. His gun was recovered at the scene.
The suspect is described as an African-American male in his late 20s.
He was taken by EMS to Kings County Hospital in stable condition.
The NYPD has requested a Level 1 Mobilization at the location, and a crime scene has been established.
