Are you living your life based on faith or your feelings? Both play an important role in how you live, but their outcomes are distinct. Faith Smith Wigglesworth, an admired man, once said, "I cannot understand God through the feelings I experience. Only through the Word, which reveals who He is, do I understand God the Father and Jesus Christ." Before we proceed, it is essential to understand the Bible and the definition of faith as found in the Word of God. On the other hand, feelings are the perceptions and emotions we have towards something, as well as the attitudes we adopt. Faith is based on what God tells us, while feelings are mutable. The words of God are immutable and eternal; they never undergo changes.

Faith and feelings sometimes wage a battle between what God reveals to us and how we feel. Often, I have judged my relationship with God based on what I feel. When I go to church and the praise deeply moves me, I feel as if the heavens are opening. I feel closer to God. However, if my prayers are delayed in being answered or if God responds with a "no," I think that He no longer loves me, that He has abandoned me. If He responds in a way different from what I expected, I feel extremely close to Him and experience happiness.

The Bible encourages believers to live by faith, not by feelings. While feelings have their importance, they should not be placed above faith. They can influence our lives, but we must not allow them to affect our faith in God. When faced with the choice between faith and feelings, we should always choose faith. Our feelings are easily influenced and altered by words, actions, and tones of voice. Instead of relying solely on our emotional perception, we should trust in God.
