All but Benjamin go to Egypt. When the brothers come before Yosef, he recognizes them, but he speaks harshly to them, accusing them of being spies. And they don’t recognize him.
Perception equals one’s reality, but not necessarily the truth.
1 Now the famine was severe in the land. (כָּבֵד kāḇēḏ = great, heavy, bad, the same word is used in CH 12 when Abram went to Egypt because of a kāḇēḏ famine).
Whenever there is a famine in the Bible text, there is a need for a spiritual change, a reconciliation. GOD is using a famine in order to bring about a change in the children of Israel so they might understand spiritual truth and that they might respond in obedience to spiritual laws. Get back into the plan of GOD.
