Down Payment Blues - PHIL RUDD Drum along AC/DC

I grew up with AC/DC from almost day one. I was born in 1961 and grew up in Avon
Lake the West Suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio.

I started taking drum lessons around the age of 11 ( snare ) . After quitting 5 years of piano lessons after watching Keith Moon and The Who and also amazed by Mitch Michel of The Jimi Hendrix Experience From The Monterey Pop Festival circa 1967.

I found an excellent drum set teacher. Started taking drum lessons around the age of 14 in 1975.

Played in a pretty well established Garage / High School Band named AXE. Got kicked out of High School Band in 1978 for Smoking in the band practice room.

In 1979 I went to the Absolute Best Concert of my entire life at The World Series of Rock at the old Cleveland Stadium right up on the waterfront near Lake Erie. It was a hot as hell day and about 5 of us snuck in one of those styrofoam coolers with 3 jugs of LIME VODKA & 7UP.

Band List went like this .

1.) SCORPIONS - 1st gig in America
2.) AC/DC with Bon Scott
3.) Thin Lizzy
4.) JOURNEY
5.) AEROSMITH
6.) TED NUGENT

My friend Dave and I smoked exactly 18 joints that marvelous day. Two people drowned in the lake the night before and someone jumped / fell to their death after climbing up to some point along the roof of the bleachers.

Just another day in 1979.
But absolutely unforgettable.

Phil Rudd was spot on and never skipped a beat. Angus Young must have been using one of the first cordless guitar gadgets with his SG Guitar and was walked unceremoniously thru the floor audience on the shoulders of Bon Scott - near where we were about 100 ft from the stage.
