Everyone likes winning, especially when you work hard for it or feel like you deserve it. But much like winning the lottery, victory is often followed by darker companions. After a great victory against Goliath, David suddenly found himself at the end of Saul’s spear. As leaders it’s important we know how to handle victories even when things turn sour shortly after. David’s story provides a lot of insight on how to do this well while keeping the most important thing in focus: our relationship with God.

My goal is that their hearts, having been knit together in love, may be encouraged, and that they may have all the riches that assurance brings in their understanding of the knowledge of the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. - Colossians 2:2-3
