#JustAsGood

Often times when I hear someone say their gun, gear, fill in the blank, is "just as good," well... "You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means." - Inigo Montoya

That is not to say there isn't comparable gear and guns out there, but it often appears as the rally cry of rationalization. A sub $400 300 Blackout pistol off of Armslist is not just as good as Q's Honey Badger. A Condor softshell is not on the same level by any stretch of imagination as the Wild Things Active Flex Jacket. Mechanically, those two guns work on the same principles and yes, you can wear either jacket, but they are not the same.

Here is the catch though, we can make the "just as good" statement true with the addition of two words. "This (fill in the blank) is just as good for me." There are a lot of products out there that are just as good for me. By way of example, if the possibility of a gun going down means I just have to stop and fix it or maybe cut short that trip to the range, that isn't a big deal. Because I'm out having fun at the range. If I was overseas with a product of questionable quality, the possibility of said gun going down has serious consequences by comparison.

So is something "Just as good," or is it "Just as good for me"?
