The Dimension 700c Hybrid Fork was the perfect solution to my problem of needing more clearance for full fenders on my cheap Nashbar commuter bike. The stock fork was too narrow and didnt have enough clearance, but this fork fixed that problem for me.
I decided to buy this fork to replace the RST suspension fork on my wifes Trek 7100. She never liked the soft ride in the front and felt uncomfortable standing while riding.
This fork provided a more rigid ride that she prefers. We had a major decision to make - either buy her a new electric assist bike or adapt her current 7100 with an E-Bike kit.
We chose the E-Bike kit and needed a rigid steel fork, which this one perfectly meets. One thing to note is that this fork is a threadless stem, while the Trek 7100 comes with a threaded stem.
This required us to purchase a new headset, stem, and spacers to complete the change. It was an additional cost of $60, but we were able to find inexpensive parts to make the switch.
The fork itself is great. I only encountered a bit of surface rust on the stem, but after sanding it down, it looked good as new. The black paint job is also holding up well, so I didnt need to repaint it.
In order to match the black fork, I also sanded and repainted an old handlebar black. Now, all the parts for the conversion to threadless are black, giving the bike a cohesive look.
I am impressed with the quality and function of the Dimension 700c Hybrid Fork. It provided the clearance I needed for my full fenders and gave my wife a more comfortable and rigid ride on her Trek 7100.
Overall, I would give this fork 4 stars, mainly due to the minor issue of surface rust on the stem. However, it was easily fixed and didnt affect the performance of the fork.
I highly recommend it for anyone in need of a quality hybrid fork.
