Kelly & Mark take us on a personal tour through the beautiful countryside of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. In one rainy day we visit: Lake Tuscaloosa Dam & Spillway, Lake Nicole Spillway, and the then drive up on a lot of deer roaming around at Deerlick Creek Campground on Holt Lake.

About Tuscaloosa Dam & Spillway: Lake Tuscaloosa is the primary source of drinking water for the Tuscaloosa metropolitan area. The lake was created by damming the North River. The lake's landscape features iconic southern pines and rolling hills which create long stretches of scenic overlooks and cozy, shaded inlets. Lake Tuscaloosa is renowned in the area for its year-round fishing and boating culture.

About Lake Nicole Spillway: Lake Nicol serves as a backup for Lake Tuscaloosa. It is 384 acres in size, has a spillway elevation of 285.2 feet and holds approximately 3.3 billion gallons of water. In addition to canoeing and swimming, Lake Nicol boasts a well-maintained park and is popular with bird watchers for its wild diversity of pine birds, songbirds, waterfowl and seasonal migrant birds. Its tall lakeside cliffs offer visitors wide, sweeping views from several sides of the lake. Lake Nicol is listed in several outdoor publications as one of the southeast's must-see destination for the bird watching community.

About Deerlick Creek Campground: Deerlick Creek Campground is located on Holt Lake on the Black Warrior-Tombigbee Waterway northeast of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The facility is in a beautiful forest along the shoreline, providing campers and day-use visitors with access to water sports, boating, fishing, swimming, hiking and biking. This has a large deer population its commong to see multiple even during the day.

About Holt Lake: Holt Lake is a 3,300-acre reservoir located about five miles northeast of the City of Tuscaloosa in west-central Alabama. Holt Lake is one of six lakes that comprise the 457-mile Black Warrior and Tombigbee Waterway, a series of locks and dams constructed to improve navigation. Holt Lake is best known for its boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, and camping opportunities.
