General
The largest supersonic parachute ever built by NASA apparently tore apart during the second test flight of the Low Density Supersonic Decelerator, also known as NASA's "flying saucer". NASA hope the LDSD could one day provide assistance with the landing of astronauts on Mars. The flight took place on June 8, 2015 from the US Navy’s Pacific Missile Range Facility on Kauai, Hawaii.
