The Value Of Scripture | AS BOLD AS LIONS DEVOTIONAL | July 24, 2023

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16,17

I find the seasons of my life in which I am in need the most are the ones when I neglect the reading of Scripture. Perhaps it’s a pride thing or maybe it’s just an underestimation of the power of God’s word. Whenever I start to think I can handle life alone, I pull away from the Bible. “I’ve got this Lord. I can do it. I know Your word well enough to take it from here.” But in those moments I really don’t know. And I have no idea just how deep my need is when I drift away; even just a little.

I love that Scripture is something eternal; it was never a “one and done” type of book that you close and put on the shelf for good after reading. It is living and active. It cuts to the heart of the matter. It’s a double-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). Paul tells us that all Scripture is “God breathed” and is good for teaching, reproof, correction, and training. Do those things ever stop? No. Should I ever stop reading His word? No. When we fully understand the value of Scripture and its importance in our everyday lives, we unlock a gift that is better than anything else this world can offer. I can’t do this alone Lord but thank You for Your word!
