Croatian President on a working visit to Turkey and meets with President Erdogan 2018
The Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic is currently visiting Turkey. January 9–10, 2018
The main reason of Grabar-Kitarovic’s one-day working visit to this country is her meeting with the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
As stated by the Presidential Office, main topics of talks between the two presidents will be the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in Southeastern Europe as well as relations between the European Union and Turkey but also the role of Ankara in controlling the refugee crisis.
The most interesting topic for Croatia is surely the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Croats living in that country require the change of the electoral law and equality before the upcoming elections in October 2018.
During the meeting in Ankara, Grabar-Kitarovic and Erdogan will discuss the possible trilateral meeting of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey, which would take place within the first three months this year.
The Turkish President Erdogan paid a visit to Croatia less than two years ago.
