The Lost City, Perthcelyn

The following documentary was made in 1995 describing the financial difficulties of families in the town I grew up in; Perthcelyn. In particular, it looked at the child poverty in a street I’m very familiar with, Willow Terrace. My Grandmother lived at 7 Willow Terrace all through the 60s, and it was a very different place then. I remember it well. The house is seen in the video and is a shadow of the home it used to be. This village is known as “The Lost City,” because when the mist descended, the city was lost (hidden). Things may very well be much different there now. Even when I was growing up in the 60s, Perthcelyn was known for being a poor community, but I wouldn’t have changed it for anything!
