Ian Clark, principal investigator of the Low-Density Supersonic Decelerator, takes us through a play-by-play of NASA's recent 'flying saucer' test in Hawaii, using high-definition video shot from cameras on board the test vehicle, which is designed to land on Mars and deliver large payloads. It was dropped from a balloon at an altitude of 23 miles and fired its onboard rocket to a speed of Mach 4. Credit: NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
