James Lewis, the main suspect believed to have killed seven people with cyanide-laced Tylenol in 1982, was found dead in his Cambridge, Massachusetts home Sunday. Lewis served more than 12 years in prison for sending an extortion letter to Tylenol manufacturer Johnson & Johnson demanding $1 million to “stop the killing” but was never convicted of the murders. The Chicago area poisonings triggered nationwide panic and led to the creation of tamper-proof packaging on over-the-counter medications.
