My Granny make hers like this, only difference is that she uses sliced "brioche" bread... sometimes, she will use two slices of bread and she "stuff" it with fruit fillings...sometimes she'll "stuff" it with sweetened cream cheese filling. YUMMY GOODNESS. Yesterday, she made us some SAVORY ones (Salmon, chopped scallions (green tops only) & cream cheese). The savory "bread waffles" ones are my personal favorite. SUGGESTION(S): When you get a chance try adding a bit of white pepper, chopped scallions (green part only) or chives, 1 tsp. onion powder & white pepper to the 3 eggs & half & half mixture. Dip brioche bread slices or Texas toast into it, soak, remove from mixture, place in a well-greased hot waffle iron. Cook until golden brown. Remove from waffle iron, "immediately" sprinkle with your favorite shredded cheese (I prefer cheddar "or" Pepper Jack)on the Bread waffle(s). You can also add some crumble bacon "and/or" sausage. My Dad like to add a fried egg on top of all the rest of the yummy goodness. Bon Appetit!!! **P.S. Don't omit the onion powder...it really make the "savory" recipe better. You can be very CREEATIVE with the savory i.e. try adding freshly snipped thyme, sage, rosemary, etc.
