What I saw in Belize. I know this is the major factor in what is killing the second largest reef in the world. I highlight what I see causing the major contamination of the reef. There is a lack of infrastructure in the country. Most homes drain the gray water directly into the nearest waterway or ditch. All of these ditches lead to the Bay of Belize then directly to the coral reef. In Belize city and Dangriga I saw home with raw sewage draining into the ditches and canal, then directly to the bay. This is not to say anything bad about many of the great people I met at this location, it is simply to shine light on what is probably the greatest single thing that is destroying the second largest reef in the entire world.
