Prop bet #1: Turner time
Poor Austin Gomber. The Colorado Rockies left hander is having one of the worst seasons going right now in MLB, and things are about to get much worse before they get better when he faces the Boston Red Sox.
Gomber is pitching to an unfathomably bad 7.62 expected ERA while surrendering a .323 expected batting average, and a .582 expected slugging percentage. All of these rank in the Bottom 2% of baseball to go along with a K-rate in the 6th percentile.
That means things are set up nicely for the Red Sox’s third baseman...

That means things are set up nicely for the Red Sox’s third baseman Justin Turner to have a big night at the plate. Turner has been a solid addition to the Boston lineup this season, hitting .272 with a .776 OPS and he's really found his rhythm at the dish lately.
The veteran is in the middle of a five-game hitting streak where he owns a .474 BA and a 1.230 OPS. He’s also handled southpaws well all season long — hitting for a .304 average and a .987 OPS vs. lefties.
Turner has gone Over 1.5 total bases in four of his last five games, and at close to even money in this juicy matchup, he’s worth backing to do so again. Justin Turner prop : Over 1.5 total bases (-105) Prop bet #2: Boy wonder Arizona Diamondbacks uber-rookie Corbin Carroll didn’t let getting hit by a pitch twice in one game get to him. He just kept on doing what he does best — hit the baseball. Carroll is currently the -310 betting favorite to win the National League Rookie of the Year Award and for good reason. The D-backs outfielder is hitting .319 with a .998 OPS so far this season, and the run he is currently on is something else.
Not many in MLB can say they are hitting the ball like Carroll is right now. He enters tonight’s matchup with the Phillies with a .426 average and a 1.407 OPS over his last 14 games, including a whopping 12 extra-base hits. That production has meant Carroll has gone Over 1.5 total bases 10 times in that 14-game stretch. So, why are we still getting +145 on the Over 1.5 total bases vs. the Phillies tonight?
My only explanation is that Carroll gets a lefty vs. lefty matchup against Phillies’ starter Ranger Suarez, but that shouldn’t bother Carroll.
For one, Carroll has great splits vs. southpaws, hitting .303 with a .785 OPS against LHP this season. But more importantly, Suarez is struggling this season.
The Phillies starter is coming off a solid 2022, but he just hasn’t had the same stuff this year. Suarez is pitching to a 4.50 expected ERA and his .289 opponent xBA ranks in the Bottom 10% of the league.
Suarez will also eventually hand the ball off to a Philadelphia bullpen that ranks 15th in xFIP, 24th in WHIP, and 22nd in opponent batting average. Carroll has also faced off against Suarez five times in his career. While he’s just 1-4 with a walk, that one hit? You guessed it, a double. Corbin Carroll prop : Over 1.5 total bases (+145) Prop bet #3: Clevinger gets clipped
After a tough season with the San Diego Padres, Mike Clevinger left the west coast for the Chicago White Sox, but at least for today, he can’t escape the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The change of scenery hasn’t really helped Clevinger as he rates out as a below-average starter. The righty is pitching to a 4.75 ERA, .435 xSlugging, and striking out just 18.9% of batters faced this season. All those marks rank in the 33rd percentile or worse.
And now he gets the gift of facing the Dodgers who rank third in OPS and...
