Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is expected to ask the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) for signs that it is moving towards its 2008 decision for Ukraine and Georgia to become members, when the alliance gathers for its annual summit in Lithuania from July 11. However, its membership into the bloc will not be on the table while the war with Russia is still unfolding. Joining the alliance as a member is a process which requires candidate countries to undertake a series of reforms, and despite making some progress, Ukraine still needs to do more.
