"Mad" Mike Hughes has built steam powered rockets to launch himself into space, to show that the Earth is flat. Apparently, he used his "wanting to prove the Earth is flat" as a PR stunt to get funding for his endeavors. With former tests going somewhat smoothly, Mike unfortunately passed away during a launch on February 22, 2020, while filming for a science channel TV show.
RIP Mike. You and your explorative and dare-devilish ways will be missed!
