USA leaders say big words like bringing the industry home and stuff like that but with the demand in rare metals today this means a country will become polluted like China. The solution is to stop the need for rare metals and really invest in the environment protection which means ways to reduce pollution. This of course will be massively expensive.

The way things are now even if USA will want to bring the industry back home it would be impossible. Minning still means a LOT of pollution and someone will have to pay the price of iron.
The chinese communist government knows very few regimes are willing to pay this price.

As it is right now Rare metals are used in like every tech device from Computers, military chips, in the optics industry, in the medical industry, everything that is technology from like the last 50 years.
The solution of course is to research and develop non rare metals for tech and revert back to the 1900 and take it from there and perfect the tech. It would seem comical and idiocy but perfected the 1900s tech can even make computers.
For example if you look at videos from the 1900 yes they are are black and white but for example they capture the light very well, the atmosphere and the images are not so lame and boring as modern cameras. If you look at old black and white pictures printed on tough cards, their quality is quite high and they last even today. Nowdays photos dont last for 10 years on our current electronic devices, you have to constantly move them. Definitely the modern tech has advanced a lot but also lost a lot during the process.
