In this video I go over a quick introduction on a brand new video series on presenting some of the amazing MES Science Experiments that I have been performing in my quest for Suppressed #FreeEnergy and #AntiGravity Science. After spending months of countless hours researching for my #AntiGravity Part 6 video, it appears that I may have a few more countless of research to adequately present my bombshell findings! That being said, I have gone on too long of a hiatus of not uploading videos so this definitely has to change! Thus uploading some of the experiments that I am doing behind the scenes is a great way to show you some of the research I am working on and also to get your feedback and thoughts of your own as to exactly what is happening. Here at MES, simple regurgitation of mainstream “science” talking points is not good enough, but feel free to provide your very own explanation… regardless of how far-out it may be. I don’t pretend like I have a clue what reality is so I am open to all suggestions. My #AntiGravity Part 6 research is on all things spinning, and this has led me to explore ALL avenues of life: from physics, electromagnetism, gravity, to religion, philosophy, and even real time sports. Simply trying to discover the true mechanism and causation of how a simple spinning top stays upright (and no, simply saying “angular momentum” is not an answer) involves diving into the world of duality: objects at rest & objects in motion, light & darkness, life & death, good & evil, conscious & subconscious, Humanity & God, etc.; and with Rotation representing the merger of seemingly opposing forces. This interconnectedness of all things has led me to believe that simply understanding the true fundamental behavior of anything, regardless of how specific, involves understanding everything: If you know anything, you know everything. What better way to begin my #MESExperiments video series than by demonstrating one of the most universally unknown properties of gyroscopes: their ability to RISE UPWARDS as they precess. In this experiment I show that this ability of gyroscopes depends partially on the angle it is tilted relative to the vertical but depends mainly on the amount of “friction” of the surface it is placed on. The lower the friction, the better the gyroscope’s ability to magically rise. Even when it precesses about a rotating platform, the gyroscope can still rise upwards! The rotating platform is a good way to minimize the friction between the gyroscope stem and the surface it is placed on. What’s also VERY interesting, is that with higher friction, the gyroscope may even lower to the ground in a matter of seconds; while with lower friction the gyroscope precesses for several minutes longer upwards, and, as I will show in my later experiments, it remains upright for a much longer time than higher friction surfaces. This is a truly amazing demonstration of just another magical property of gyroscopes. Let me know what you think is going on here! Note that the precession speed increases presumably as the gyro wheel spin speed decreases, thus providing an acceleration in precession speed. An acceleration, in mainstream science terms, indicates a “force” or “torque”. Is this self-created “force” the reason behind why it is rising? In this experiment, I continue further with a Gyroscope’s amazing ability to precess upwards on rotating surfaces (or low friction surfaces) and this time show that it can rise upwards even at very steep angles. This time I am using a Super Precision Gyroscope (see link below) and starting at a super steep angle of about 60 degrees from the vertical. I had initially thought it was not possible for the gyroscope to rise fully upwards from such a steep angle, but the magical gyroscope continues to baffle everything I thought was possible! Starting from an initial angle from the vertical of about 60 degrees, the gyroscope precesses upwards in about 3 and half minutes to about 42 degrees, and ultimately perfectly vertical in 7 minutes. The gyroscope then maintains a stable vertical position for about a minute before it starts wobbling off course. Then in roughly a minute longer, the gyroscope precesses downwards until about 60 degrees from the vertical. A minute later the gyroscope eventually precesses at GREATER than 90 degrees from the vertical (or a negative angle below the horizontal) until it strikes one of the base supports thus falling over. Looks like I will have to perform a second test in which I raise the support higher to see just how long the gyroscope can precess below the horizontal angle. The gyroscope precesses for a total of about 10 minutes moving both upwards and then downwards; truly amazing stuff! Later in the video I place the gyroscope on its side on show how just lightly touching it causes it to behave in bizarre and truly remarkable ways! The Super Precision Gyroscope spun for a total of 17 and half minutes. Another BOMBSHELL discovery about gyroscopes, which I will demonstrate in future experiments, is that the gyroscope NEVER loses spin speed as a result of its precession, or even manually twisting it. In other words, the gyroscope’s ability to move, interact, and impart forces upon *some* changes to its orientation DOES NOT SLOW DOWN or use the “energy” of the spinning gyroscope. Now this brings into question, WHERE is this “energy” coming from?? If not from the gyroscope itself, then maybe Bruce DePalma, founder of the N-Machine #FreeEnergy Machine before his untimely almost certain assassination, is right in that the gyroscope is acting like an “antenna” to the energy field all around us…. #Aether MES Note: I say *some* changes to its orientation because, as will further be explained in detail, as the Earth Rotates the gravity field moves but the gyroscope or spinning tops in general aren’t affected by this change in the forces (in this case a moving gravity field) acting upon its orientation; i.e. #InceptionIsReal Anyways, let me know what you think is behind this amazing property of the gyroscope to magically rise as it precesses. I am of the view that rotation, or even all forms of motion itself, interacts with Gravity in a similar way that rotation of electric fields and magnetic fields interact with each other. In this #MESExperiments Number 3, I continue further into the wonderful world of Gyroscopes, and this time go over another near-universally overlooked property of gyroscopes: they exert external forces during *some* changes in orientation but with ZERO loss in spin rate! This is some truly mind-boggling stuff! I demonstrate this by comparing three different tests with the same super precision gyroscope: 1) Manually Twisting the Gyroscope 2) Allowing the Gyroscope to magically precess UPWARDS! 3) Control Experiment: Simply Placing the Gyroscope on the countertop. The video shows that in ALL experiments, the gyroscope spins for a total duration of roughly 17.5 minutes! I have performed these experiments dozens of times and with several different types of gyroscopes and the results are the same. Now the question remains: If the Spin Rate is not dropping, then where is this mysterious force coming from?? Is it “Angular Momentum”? If so how is this magical “angular momentum” being obtained but with no loss of spin energy?? And what is EXACTLY is "angular momentum", besides the mainstream "explanation" as a "tendency to maintain rotation"... Also, manually twisting the gyroscope shows that it can exert a considerable amount of force, ANY number of times, and at as fast of a pace that I choose, which simply gets “more force” out the gyroscope but again at no spin energy loss. After pondering this for many months, I can’t fathom any other explanation but that the gyroscope is not actually exerting the force… but rather acting as an “antenna” for a *surrounding* energy source or field… or “ether”… This is analogous to increasing the mass of an object which thus becomes harder to move around because of the added weight. And since the gyroscope weight doesn’t increase or decrease when placed on a weigh scale, it appears that the “weight” increases AROUND the gyroscope in a seemingly force or vortex field while it is spinning. Now this is a brain teaser of epic proportions and consequences! Let me know where and how you think the gyroscope is obtaining this “inertial force” from by commenting below! Note that I state “some” changes in in orientation because as will be demonstrated in later experiments, a spinning top or a gyroscope precessing like a spinning top always keep upright as the Earth rotates. In other words, they behave as if they have no “angular momentum” and instead always *magically* align in opposition to the direction of gravity. In #MESExperiments number 4, I have uploaded THE Eric Laithwaite’s mind-boggling demonstration showing that an 8-pound gyro wheel precesses with no “angular momentum” or “inertia”; i.e. behaving like it has ZERO mass! I had covered this particular experiment in my earlier #AntiGravity Part 1 video (https://mes.fm/antigravity-playlist), so make sure to watch that video to get caught up on how and why I am now starting off with Laithwaite finished off. Eric Laithwaite, during his famous 4th and 5th Christmas Institution in 1974 on gyroscopes (to which his name and brilliant work has been covered up and slandered by the “Royal (real science coverup) Society”), compared the impact a gyro wheel would have upon a wooden stick while it was spinning vs. not-spinning. When the gyroscope is spun up, using compressed air in this particular case, the gyroscope “precesses” around towards the stick but then just bounces off and starts moving downwards and in the opposite direction. Keep in mind that this is an 8-POUND gyro wheel! Now when the wheel is not spun but instead lifted to a height that would move at roughly the same speed during precession but when dropped due to gravity, the wheel obliterates that wooden stick! Imagine scaling this experiment up by a few ton and showing that a car-sized gyro wheel can hit a normal standing human… and bounce off as if he was Superman… #TimeToBuildAGiantGyroWheel This is one of the most astonishing, yet very simple to perform, demonstrations I have ever seen! The *established* concept that “inertia” or “momentum” or “angular momentum” depend soley on mass and velocity gets thrown on their head. But even more troubling is pondering just exactly how long this *basic* fact of gyroscopes has been covered up…. And as I have demonstrated in my earlier experiments of gyroscopes rising against gravity and exerting forces with ZERO loss of spin rate, it appears that gyroscopes hold a key to unlocking the very *substance* of our perceived universe… #TheEtherExists… Stay Tuned for #MESExperiments Number 5! In #MESExperiments Part 5, I demonstrate one of the most little known properties of gyroscopes: they can precess with zero “centripetal force”. I demonstrate this by placing a super precision gyroscope on ice to limit any “friction” and just watch the gyroscope rise upwards while the ice cube hardly moves horizontally. In contrast, the “centripetal force” is evident in the case of an Olympic Hammer Throw in which the heavy ball on a chain requires great strength to “pull” the ball inwards as it is spun in a circle. In my experiment, I placed the gyroscope on a plastic “shirt button” which was itself placed on a metal disc placed on the ice cube. I used this particular set up to provide a more stable base for the plastic button, while at the same time not restrict the rotational movement of the outer gyroscope casing and stem; this is done to allow the gyroscope to rise upwards. I will explain in detail in later videos, but it appears that the gyroscope’s ability to rise upwards requires that extremely low “rotational friction” is present at the point where the stem of the gyro contacts the base. I initially place the gyroscope at approximately 40 degrees from the vertical and watch as it precesses gradually upwards, and with almost zero horizontal movement; i.e. zero “centripetal force”! What’s also interesting is the noise that the gyroscope makes as it precesses, which once fully risen almost fully and eerily disappears. Another fascinating observation is that the base, the ice cube, and the outer casing of the gyroscope and stem behave as a single unit and turn in unison. This “unison rotation” is at its peak rate when the gyroscope is perfectly vertical and rotates this way for a full 2 minutes with very little wobble! As the gyroscope loses spin speed, the gyroscope begins to precess again but this time the ice cube gradually moves horizontally in a circular fashion that spirals outwards as the gyroscope precession angle drops and the spin rate lowers. In other words, the “centripetal force” *could* be said to magically appear. Where was it in the first place??! At even lower spin speeds and very steep angles, the gyroscope precesses in a large circle but still in amazing gyro-typical control! But even then, how can the “Centripetal Force” manage to move the ice cube in large circles, yet not even knock off the gyroscope completely off the base? I am of the view that to adequately answer this we need to completely re-examine the very notion of “centripetal force”, because in my view the current mainstream understanding is fundamentally incomplete. Now what to make of these findings? I have spent the great deal of time going over experiment after experiment to get the perfect video to fully demonstrate these little known properties of gyroscopes. But this was mainly to remove all doubt as to what our eyes have been telling us all along when simply balancing a precessing gyroscope on our fingertip, but if only we had the mind to comprehend… Stay Tuned for #MESExperiments Number 6... In #MESExperiments number 6, I repeat my 5th experiment of a precessing gyroscope on ice but this time set the gyroscope at a near horizontal angle. And yet again the gyroscope demonstrates the (mainstream) physics-defying ability to magically precess with ZERO centripetal force, at sufficient gyro spin rate. In other words, the gyroscope precess as if it magically lost all its “mass” and thus generating ZERO “horizontal force” at the stem; and as explained in Experiment number 4, the gyroscope literally precesses without “angular momentum”. This is some truly mind-boggling properties of gyroscopes which, if viewed with the critical eye, requires a re-writing of centuries old (mainstream) physics textbooks and even science in general. Once the gyroscope loses spin speed, the “centripetal force” gradually increases which can be seen by the stem of the gyroscope moving in a circular direction on the near frictionless ice surface. But even at these slower spin speeds, the amount of “centripetal force” is almost negligible. This is because, as shown in my earlier experiments, it just takes an incredibly small amount of “friction” to hold the gyroscope in place. And in fact it is this gyroscope’s magical property of seemingly behave “massless” that allows it to precess perfectly balanced even on the tip of your finger. I can’t stress how monumental and game-changing these HIDDEN-IN-PLAIN-SITE properties of gyroscopes, because after all a gyroscope is essentially a constrained spinning top, and which a spinning top itself is just matter in rotation… Which begs the questions what is “matter” and why does rotation magically change its properties? In #MESExperiments number 7, I have repeated the same experiment as in the 5th experiment but this time removed the plastic and metal bases so that the gyroscope is directly in contact with the ice block. This means that the contact surface between the ice and the stem of the gyroscope has very little rotational friction and which can be see by the gyroscope outer casing spinning very rapidly; even though the gyroscope’s center disk is the only thing initially spun. I positioned the gyroscope at about 35 degrees from the vertical and yet again the gyroscope magically rises upwards and with ZERO “centripetal force” as can be seen by the lack of horizontal movement as the gyroscope rises upwards. This experiment demonstrates that even if the gyroscope’s outer casing is free to rotate, the gyroscope still rises upwards. Thus the ability of the gyroscope to rise upwards is not due to horizontal friction (no centripetal force) and not due to rotational friction either. Then the question arises: how is the gyroscope precessing upwards? Stay tuned for my later experiments and my epic #AntiGravity Part 6 video which shows that “gravity” itself is being interacted with through the simple rotation of matter… #StayTuned The gyroscope takes about 3.5 minutes to fully rise upwards and after which maintains its vertical position for about 1 minute. Then, as also shown in experiment number 5, the gyroscope magically “regains” its “centripetal force” as it precesses downwards and with the ice block moving in large horizontal circular movements. This upwards rising is even more impressive given the fact that the gyroscope stem has literally dug directly into the ice block. Thus the gyroscope rises upwards not only against gravity but against the surrounding ice wall. #AbsolutelyFascinating Also, later in the video I show that as the gyroscope loses spin speed, it still has the ability to precess in a circular downwards spiral; albeit more chaotic as the spin speed lowers. But even at extremely low spin speeds, the gyroscope still has the magical ability to avoid falling directly downwards but instead still spiral downwards which also “cushions” the fall of the gyro. #AmazingStuff Stay Tuned for #MESExperiments Number 8! In #MESExperiments Part 8, I have uploaded the late Francis J. McCabe’s amazing Gyro Wheel Torque “Over-Unity” demonstration, which he had up on his YouTube Channel in June 27, 2012. Francis showed that a large 50 pound, 32 inch diameter gyro, precessing from about 25 inches from the pivot point, can still be “torqued-up” by a very small and visibly weak 6 volt battery with a “Torque Rating” of 2.5 inch-pounds at 12 volts. Crunching in the numbers, we get roughly: - Output Torque = 50 pounds * 25 inches = 50 * 25 = 1,250 inch-pounds - Input Torque = 2.5 inch-pounds * (6 volts input) / (12 volts rating) = 1.25 inch-pounds. - Output Torque / Input Torque = 1250/1.25 = 1000 TIMES OVER-UNITY! Recall that the mainstream definition of “Torque” is essentially force multiplied by the distance perpendicular from the fulcrum or point of rotation. For a fixed horizontal wheel, the torque would be the “Moment of Inertia” multiplied by the Acceleration. But while precessing, this torque is also equal to the weight multiplied by the distance to the pivot. More on this *mainstream* torque and precession can be found here: http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/rotv2.html Essentially what this means is that although a very weak motor won’t be able to spin a fixed horizontal heavy wheel, but if spun initially through the vertical near zero torque position and then allowed to precess, the motor magically is able to increase spin speed and maintain precession! This is literally as if the very magical act of precession is causing the gyroscope to be “lifted” in a horizontal spiral plane. Later Francis turns off the power and the gyro-wheel begins precessing in a downwards spiral. This is an absolutely mind-boggling demonstration by Francis J. McCabe, and just adds to amazing properties of gyroscopes shown in my earlier experiments. In #MESExperiments 9, I demonstrate one of the most fascinating experiments ever performed. This experiment came a whole year after discovering that gyroscopes rise magically all on their own (See Experiments 1, 2, 3, 5, 7 at https://peakd.com/experiments/@mes/list). Those earlier experiments shows that gyros rise upwards when they should instead fall down; effectively behaving lighter. And in this experiment, the opposite happens. Adding a counterweight such that the gyroscope is balanced horizontally instead makes the gyroscope behave heavier and magically drop downwards and lift the counterweight in the process! This is one of the most mind-boggling experiments of all time! Note that from my epic #AntiGravity Part 6 video, https://peakd.com/antigravity/@mes/series, the gyro spin and precession directions tend to always want to align even if it means behaving heavier or lighter, i.e. magic. Note again that this demonstration is only possible when there is very little rotational or precessional friction, hence why it drops when hung by a string but with the conventional gimbal setup it would not even precess. Also from Part 6, this low friction requirement alludes to "torque over-unity" in that the gyroscope amplifies forces or torques. As the gyro spin speed slows down the gyro is still upside down but now the precession spiral is larger, similar to Experiment 6 in which the centrifugal outwards precession "force" gets larger as the gyro slows down. Interestingly, at even slower gyro spin speeds the precession circle and precession speed gets smaller, again while the gyro is still upside down! After 7 minutes, the gyro starts to rise gradually upwards, but this is likely due to the string getting wound up and starts generating (over-unity) counter precessional force. Amazingly, just the mere unwinding of the string is enough to cause the gyro to precess in the reverse direction while this time rising upwards above the horizontal! And once again, as the gyro loses even more spin speed even in the now risen position the precession spiral/circle moves outwards further out. This time, the counterweight appears to be the new "center of mass". Fascinating stuff! In #MESExperiments 10, I compare two gyro setups when hung by a string: one without a counterweight and one with. The gyroscope without the counterweight is able to precess (magically) upwards from a very steep angle until it makes contact with the string. But adding the counterweight which should be providing some upwards lift/torque on the gyro instead makes it precess at a constant angle until it loses spin speed and starts to gradually drop downwards. This is as counterintuitive as it gets! Note that the gyroscope weights 148.62 g and the counterweight is 120.43 g as per the weight readings at the bottom of my earlier video notes: https://peakd.com/mesexperiments/@mes/mesexperiments-9-gyroscope-with-counterweight-hung-on-a-string-rises-downwards-magicx1000. The gyro without the counterweight, thus effectively there is nothing visible acting upon it as it floats and then rises upwards, is initially at an angle of about 55 degrees from the vertical. In about a minute and a half it rises and makes contact with the string. The gyro setup with the counterweight was initially orientated at about 47 degrees from the vertical; thus about 8 degrees less steep than the other gyro setup yet it still couldn't rise! After precession at a relatively constantly angle close to the starting angle, the gyro gradually drops until just over 4 minutes in which it falls past the horizontal level. Some further observations, which I covered in #AntiGravity Part 6, https://mes.fm/antigravity-playlist, are also seen for the gyro setup without the counterweight. As the gyro loses spin speed the precessional "centrifugal force" becomes apparent as it starts to precess in a widening spiral. As it slows even more, the precession circle is very wide. Even later, as the gyro spin speed slows down a lot so too does the precession speed and thus the precession circle becomes much smaller. Later in the experiment, I conduct some forced precession experiments. When I apply a rotational force on the string in the opposite direction to the gyro spin speed, the gyro magically inertially propels itself upwards, and again as stated in #AntiGravity Part 6 so that the gyro spin and precession move towards alignment. Applying a rotational force to the string in the direction of the gyro spin direction generates no rising but instead the gyro becomes more rigid in alignment with the applied force. As the string gets over wound-up, it begins applying an unwinding rotational force which although is relatively tiny compared to the weight of the gyro, it can still generate inertial lift of the gyro when the rotational force is opposite to the gyro spin direction. Thus, as also stated in #AntiGravity Part 6, this is alluding to the "torque over-unity" or force amplification ability of gyroscopes. And lastly, when the string gets wound-up again and this time unwinding in the direction of the gyro spin, the gyro once again becomes rigid in its orientation and exhibits no inertial lift. In #MESExperiments 11 I go over several gyro rising experiments comparing different gyros to various initial spin speeds in order to understand how the rate of rising is affected by initial spin speeds. I compare 3 different gyroscopes and 2 different initial spin speed types: full speed and a delayed start. The 3 gyroscopes include a small plastic gyro (29.10 grams), a UFO light-up plastic/metallic gyro (134.39 g), and a metallic precision gyro (150.68 g). For each gyro I have placed the experiments side-by-side to better compare their behavior. The delayed start time for the small gyro is 30 seconds, for the UFO gyro it is 1 minute, and for the precision gyro it is 3 minutes. All the experiments had angles very close to 45 degrees from the vertical but it should be noted that even a 1 degree difference can have a drastic impact on the rising rate or even the ability to rise. The findings show that the small gyro and the UFO gyro rose faster when delayed indicating that slower spin rate helped increase rising rate. But the opposite happened with the precision gyro in that the faster spin speed with no delay rose faster. These are are very interesting findings and require further investigation. It is also important to note that the weight of the gyro spinning mass and non-spinning mass are key components in the gyro's magical ability to rise; and which can even allow the gyro to generate torque over-unity in lifting relatively heavy weight as demonstrated in my game-changing #AntiGravity Part 6 video, https://mes.fm/antigravity-playlist. Note that the video thumbnail has the full speed rising time shown in the above vertical gyros while the bottom are the initial starting positions of the delayed start gyros. Also interesting is the rising rate for the precision gyro is several times smaller than the other gyros. Furthermore the full speed gyros were in the "sleep" or vertical position for longer and as well as taking longer to fully fall down. This may be due to the minimal bearing friction in the vertical position. Note that further, more detailed experiments are required to quantitatively measure the spin speeds as well as the relative weights of the spinning vs non-spinning mass. Also in the works is that I'm trying to obtain a gyro wheel with no outer casing at all to get a better understanding of how the gyro behaves with no non-spinning mass. It is also worth noting that the according to the website I purchased the 150.68 g precision gyroscope from, the weight of the spinning brass disk including the rotating shaft is 112 g. Thus the ratio of the spinning mass to the total weight is 112/150.68 = 0.7433 = 74.33 %. I believe weighing the spinning rotors of the small toy gyro and UFO gyro and comparing the relative spinning mass ratio with the precision gyro may reveal further important information regarding the rising rates; which I will look to dissemble soon. In #MESExperiments 12 I demonstrate the observation which usually happens when comparing a gyroscope’s rising time with the initial angle at which it is placed; and is that the rising time tends to increase exponentially as the angle is made even steeper. I demonstrate this by comparing the same gyroscope at 4 different angles: 31°, 45°, 54°, and 61°. In each test the gyroscope was spun up with the same power drill and I made sure to compare the gyroscope experiments in which the total time before falling were similar; thus, ensuring that the initial spin speeds as well as the overall gyroscope setup were comparable for each test. The results of the experiment are tabulated and graphed in the spreadsheet which can be downloaded in this link: https://1drv.ms/x/s!As32ynv0LoaIh-9pOLwowdYSDqPYVA. The 31° gyro rose in 70 seconds, the 45° in 140 seconds, the 54° in 217, and the 61° in 337 seconds. The resulting automated exponential “Trendline” from Microsoft Excel gives the following exponential equation and which matches the data well. y = 13.863 e^(0.0517x) Effectively, increasing the angle by approximately double from 31° to 61° results in nearly 5 times the rising time (337/70 = 4.814 ≈ 5). In #MESExperiments 13, I show one of the most baffling gyro rising experiments ever performed! Not only is the entire phenomenon of gyroscopes rising magically on their own entirely unheard-of, besides here at MES, but a gyro rising from an angle of about 74 degrees from the vertical and in a mere 90 seconds is straight ludicrous sorcery! This finding was actually accidental, and I came across it during my #MESExperiments 12 filming and testing. Most of my earlier gyro experiments were performed with a “super precision gyroscope” but this one is actually done with a slightly cheaper less precise gyro that is also a bit heavier than the more precise gyro. A larger plastic round stem on this particular gyro should also be noted. This is the steepest fully rising gyro experiment I have ever performed and is almost perfectly horizontal! This is the definition of magic. As per usual, I have tabulated the results of the experiment into a spreadsheet and graphed the results in terms of the angle, elapsed time, and rising rate. Similar to the findings in #MESExperiments 12, as the angle becomes less steep, the rising rate exponentially increases. Note that my earlier gyroscope experiments involving the more precise gyroscope had a weight of 150.68 g with the stem and 148.62 without the stem (thus the stem is 150.68 - 148.62 = 2.06 grams). Thus, the gyroscope in this video was about (161.31 - 150.68) / 150.68 = 10.63 / 150.68 = 7.05% heavier than the precision gyro in my earlier experiments. In later experiments, as well as in my game-changing #AntiGravity Part 6 video(s), I show that the combination of both spin speed and heavier weight act as a “multiplicative” factor in increasing the rising rate. In #MESExperiments 14, I demonstrate a very interesting finding that I had not previously suspected with gyroscopes and that is the steepness of the angle of precession has very little direct effect on the rate of precession. Note that in this context I refer to the rate or “period” of precession as the number of precession revolutions per time (in this case per minute hence RPM) and should be distinguished from precessional or angular velocity which is the actual speed of the center of mass moving in precession. This observation of the precession rate being unaffected by the steepness of the angle indicates both that the angular velocity of the center of mass is increasing as the angle is steeper (since the gyro has further distance to precess) but also that there is an underlying symmetry taking place between the gyro spin speed and the rate of precession. Furthermore, my prior intuition was that the steeper the gyroscope the more “torque” would be imposed which should drive both the precession rate and velocity faster to maintain its (anti-gravitic) levitation. But given my earlier experiments of gyroscopes literally behaving massless in precession, it seems fitting and more reasonable that precession has a much more correlated and direct connection to the spin speed than conventionally understood. Four gyroscope tests were performed in this experiment and at angles: 31°, 45°, 65°, and 84° from the vertical. Interesting findings include the precession rate increases with elapsed time but up to a “peak precession rate” after which the precession rate drops. Since the near horizontal 84° gyro fell down quickly it did not exhibit a typical “peak precession rate” but rather fell at its highest precession rate. This is definitely a subject of further study. In #MESExperiments 15 I go over the process of very tediously measuring a gyroscope’s angle of steepness for each precession revolution in order to analyze and learn from the data. This specific gyro test had a starting angle of 65° from the vertical and rose 45° to a final risen position of 20°. I chose this specific gyro experiment to analyze because I wanted to compare the peak risen position with the precession rate or period, which in our case is defined as the number of precession revolutions per time (I used per minute hence RPM). The data was compiled following Excel spreadsheet and a full discussion is written up in the corresponding Hive post: - Excel File: https://1drv.ms/x/s!As32ynv0LoaIh_JNJ8foLHD9vY433A?e=ffHY2v - Hive Notes: https://peakd.com/mesexperiments/@mes/mesexperiments-15-gyroscopes-tend-to-rise-until-precession-rate-has-peaked-interesting Analyzing the data shows that the angle from vertical tends to increase linearly while the precession rate or period increases more rapidly and is akin to an exponential rise. This pattern is followed until the gyro is at its highest risen position. Soon afterwards the gyro starts to descend downwards at a very fast rate and then its falling rate starts to slow down as the angle gets more steep. Likewise, just after the highest risen position the precession rate drops quickly but interestingly is sped back up again followed by a gradual slowing down as the gyro angle gets steeper. Furthermore, I calculated the angular velocity of the center of mass of the gyro while assuming it was at the center of the gyro rotor. Interestingly, the angular velocity initially increases linearly and at a much less rate than the exponentially rising precession rate. But once the peak risen position is reached the angular velocity spiked very rapidly until it appears to level off at about 3 times the velocity at the risen position. Note that the length from the stem to gyro rotor, hence the estimated center of mass (COM), is approximately 45 mm and the weight of the gyroscope used in this experiment is 150.68 g with the stem. These are some very interesting findings which I will explore in further experiments. In #MESExperiments 16 I demonstrate one of the most fascinating demonstrations ever conducted, and which even baffled my mind when I first tried it out. A gyroscope can even rise while precessing at the tip of a needle! Yes, a needle… The gyroscope is literally dangling in midair with nothing to hold on to but the tiny tip of the needle. I’ve included a zoomed in box during the gyro rising to show a close up of the stem and needle. This is some truly breath-taking stuff! The progression of the gyro experiment and numerical results are listed below: - Initial Gyro Angle: 47° - Rising Time: 0:40 - 0:04 = 36 seconds. - Sleep Time: 0:58 - 0:40 = 18 seconds. - Time to Fall: 1:02 - 0:04 = 58 seconds. - Total Spin Time: 2:45 - 0:04 = 2:41 = 161 seconds. - Note: Very interesting loud noise coming from the gyro at the 20 seconds mark during rising. Note that the gyroscope weighed 100.29 grams and the needle is less than 0.5 mm thin. In #MESExperiments 17 I demonstrate that even on a slanted needle a gyroscope can magically rise on its own. This demonstrates that a gyroscope's self-balancing mechanism does not require a vertical, symmetrical, or even centered base to precess about. The needle was tilted at 24° and the starting gyroscope tilt angle was 32°; note that both angles are measured from the vertical. The gyro, as on the vertical needle in Experiment 16, rises very quickly and this time rises in 23 seconds. This experiment also illustrates the magical behavior of gyroscopes to modify their “inertia”, effectively disappearing and reappearing their “mass”. This is shown by initially the gyroscope precesses with zero horizontal movement of the overall needle/clamp base but then magically regains this “mass” as the gyro speed slows down and spirals downwards while moving the entire base aggressively to the left and just before the gyro throws itself off. In #MESExperiments 18 I take my earlier gyro rising on a needle experiments to another level and this time tape the needle onto a flimsy rotating platform; and yet again the gyroscope rises all on its own! This experiment may quite literally be the only time anyone in the history of the world even bothered to perform such an experiment. This experiment demonstrates that a gyroscope can automatically balance and adjust its position even on a flimsy constantly rotating base and all while still magically rising. And as my earlier gyro experiments have demonstrated this is only possible because gyroscopes produce no centripetal or horizontal forces during precession thus can still operate on a flimsy needle; all of which is unheard of in conventional physics. And interestingly as the gyro slows down the centripetal force or “inertia” reappears and throws the gyro off the flimsy needle much quicker than in my earlier fixed needle gyro experiments. In #MESExperiments 19 I demonstrate that gyroscopes are a special form of inverted pendulums in that they don’t need any electronic feedback loop controls to balance or rise against gravity all on their own. This is one of the most fascinating capabilities of gyroscopes but is almost as fascinating and perplexing as how the entire world has missed out on this feat of gravity defying proportions. Although gyroscopes and spinning tops have always been inverted pendulums in principle, it is this particular experiment that shows that they also inverted pendulums in form and appearance as well. I demonstrate this inverted pendulum property of gyroscopes by showcasing two experiments involving a custom low friction gimbal setup on a string: the first with a light counterweight in which the gyroscope "forces its own precession" and the second with a heavy counterweight that requires manually forcing the precession initially. The first experiment involves placing a light 6.60 gram counterweight with a 4.60 gram and 55 mm long stem onto a 148.68 gram gyroscope that is placed in a custom gimbal setup hung via a string to minimize rotational friction. The gyro in this case is able to raise the light counterweight on its own. The second experiment, @ the 13:35 mark of this video, is similar to the first but involves a much heavier 148.68 gram counterweight. The weight is too much for this current gyro to raise on its own initially so I have manually torqued the gyro by slightly (i.e. torque over-unity) turning the gimbal to "hurry the precession" which magically causes the counterweight to rise upwards. In both cases, and once in their risen inverted position, the gyroscope is able to magically balance the counterweights against gravity! In #MESExperiments 20 I’ve uploaded one of the least known experiments by the late great Eric Laithwaite and it is among the clearest demonstrations of gyroscopic weight loss through forced precession. This experiment involves placing a gyro wheel with a shaft that is loosely connected onto a vertical rod which allows the gyro and shaft setup to freely move upwards if the gyro “chooses” to. And choosing to rise upwards is exactly what it does as Eric forces the precession with an external looped structure which he pushes against the end of the shaft. As the gyro torques upwards and thus the center of mass increases so too does the entire gyro + shaft setup rise; and in fact rise completely airborne for a brief moment. Thus, had there been a weight scale underneath, it would measure a zero weight reading as it was airborne; in other words, the gyro “loses weight” during forced precession, or more accurately, as the center of mass increases and without expected downwards reaction (which otherwise would increase the weight scale reading akin to a person pushing off the ground when jumping upwards). This experiment is taken from the BBC “Heretics” series referenced below. Interestingly it is not available on YouTube, and BBC doesn’t allow anyone to upload it there either; thus raising the question of why the tax payer funded BBC, to the tune of about $5+ billion per year, places a cover on science. In #MESExperiments 21 I go over a discovery I made early last year which flipped my already flipped understanding of gyroscopes, and that is adding extra weight to a gyroscope can make it rise faster. In some cases, this experiment being one of them, the rate of rising can be significantly faster. This video compares the rising rate of a 100.63 gram toy gyroscope with and without an extra 29.67 g putty weight. Initially both gyros start off at about 48° and somehow the weight added gyro rises about 2.71 times faster; 14 seconds vs. 38 seconds. Gyros rising on their own are amazing enough, but the ability for some gyroscopes (not all as future experiments will show) to rise much faster with relatively heavy weight added quite literally flies in the face of the conventional view of gravity. This raises some possible relationship between rising rate and overall balancing time. Note that the weighted gyro has significantly more “rotational inertia” from the non-spinning extra mass which effectively throws the gyro off the support resulting in a shorter sleep and overall shorter balancing period. In #MESExperiments 22 I have repeated Experiment 21 by making sure the casing does not rotate as the gyroscopes rise thus confirming that some gyroscopes can in fact rise much quicker when extra weight is added. The earlier Experiment 21 involved comparing a gyroscope with no added weight with that of a 30% by-weight added putty gyro test, in which the added weight gyro rose by almost 3 times faster. Since the gyro spin speed was very fast, the casing of the non-added weight gyro was rotating rapidly during rising while the added weight gyro did not experience casing rotation. After criticism that the casing rotation may causing the slower rising rate of the non-added weight gyro test, I have repeated the experiment by adding a small 5% by-weight putty to ensure the gyro casing does not rotate. Thus in this video, I compare the same gyro without casing rotation for a 5% by-weight added putty with that of a 30% putty; and as expected the heavier added weight gyro test rose 2X faster. In #MESExperiments 23 I expand further upon the previous Experiments 21 and 22 regarding the monumental discovery of gyros rising faster with added weight by showing that this is not necessarily always the case; thus demonstrating the need for nuance in all of life. I demonstrate this by comparing the rising rates of another gyroscope with 4 weight conditions: No weight added, 10%, 16%, and 21% weight added (relative to the weight of the gyroscope). For this specific gyroscope, the lower the weight added the faster the rising. In fact, the 21% weighted gyro didn’t even rise fully, which is in stark contrast to Experiment 21 which had a gyro rise almost 3X faster with 30% added weight! Thus more study and experimentation is required to fine tune our understanding of gyroscopes' (and spinning tops') novel rising ability. In #MESExperiments 24 I further embark on the amazing property of gyroscopes rising on their own even with added weight and this time show that even with 70% added weight a gyroscope can still rise upwards. This is a similar experiment and gyroscope as that in Experiments 21 and 22 but this time I included several metal nuts into the putty weight to further increase the weight. Interestingly the gyroscope rises gradually until the putty makes contact with the gyroscope rotor and which somehow causes the gyroscope to rise completely, instantly, and chaotically! In fact the gyroscope even oscillates from its risen position to a tilted angle back and forth several times in a chaotic second or two. This experiment raises even more questions as to the magical world of gyroscopes, and which I will continue exploring. In #MESExperiments 25 I continue experimenting with different ways of making a gyroscope rise faster, and this time I have discovered that simply attaching tape to the rotor axis to increase spin friction can dramatically increase the rising rate! And even increase the rising rate by over 5.5X+ but at the expense of greatly cutting short the total balancing, sleep, and spin time. Also of note is that with the tape friction the gyroscope’s outer casing also rotated throughout the experiment, whereas the low friction gyro comparison test had a much smoother but longer rising time. It appears that the rate at which the gyro spin speed lowers due to friction may in fact be the key driver, along with minimizing any precessional friction as in Experiment 1, to enabling gyroscopes to rise upwards as well as governing the rate of rising. Although increasing spin friction can increase the rate of rising, it is important to keep in mind my earlier Experiment 3 which shows that a gyroscope precesses, rises, and overall exerts "inertial forces" but with no additional loss of spin speed. In other words, there is no direct conversion from the loss of spin speed due to friction to a gyroscope rising; or no direct conversion from the conventional view of "kinetic energy" to "potential energy". Thus, had the gyro rose or not, the overall spin time should be the same for the same friction environment. In #MESExperiments 26 I continue further in experimenting with attaching tape to a gyroscope’s rotor to increase spin friction and this time show that doing so makes it possible for a gyroscope to rise from a very steep 72° angle from the vertical. For this particular gyroscope, the previous steepest angle I had been able to make rise, until now, was about 61° from the vertical (see Experiment 12) but was done so without increasing spin friction. Overall, the steepest angle I had made a gyroscope rise from was 74°, see Experiment 13, and it was done so with a different gyroscope which interestingly had naturally more friction in the bearings than that of the precession gyro in this particular Experiment 26. Thus, in both cases it appears that increasing spin friction, even by applying a tiny amount of tape to the rotor, can increase both the rising rate and the maximum angle at which it is possible to get to a fully risen position. Interestingly, the casing rotation in this experiment was very rapid, and near the risen position the gyroscope becomes very chaotic as it tilts and rises in multiple oscillating sequences. I have included a slow motion footage of this chaotic rising at the end of this video. Had the casing not rotated, I suspect it would just make the rising more smooth since in Experiment 13 the gyro rose from 74° without rotating the casing. In #MESExperiments 27 I repeat the previous Experiment 26 which involved adding tape friction to make a gyroscope rise from a very steep 72° angle but this time also add a small weight to prevent the outer gyro casing from rotating due to the high spin friction. And as before, the gyroscope rises very fast from a 70° angle but this time in a much more controlled motion. In fact, besides the chaotic motion of the previous experiment, overall the rising ability and rates were very similar regardless if the outer casing rotates or not. In #MESExperiments 28 I demonstrate the amazing ability of the GyroTop magnetic spinning top to always balance opposite the magnetic attractive force even when turning the apparatus upside down. The GyroTop, also called Space Top, is the invention of an obscure person named Owen Liang, and whom created it to test his hypothesis that spinning tops want to align themselves opposite of gravity rather than simply "maintaining angular momentum". The first part of the video involves just a regular spinning top with the ring magnet removed, and is used as a comparison. The spinning top keeps upright opposite the force of gravity even when the apparatus is tilted. This demonstration is often used to illustrate "angular momentum". In the second part of the video, I attach the ring magnet and repeat the same procedure of spinning it up with a drill. Note the GyroTop has a tube to manually blow air into to spin it up, but I used my drill instead. As I rotate the apparatus the GyroTop always moves to align against the magnetic attraction. This is counterintuitive since the angular momentum should keep the top stationary until the magnetic attractive force is strong enough to grab hold of the top. In #MESExperiments 29 I go further into the GyroTop magnetic spinning top from Experiment 28, and this time provide an asymmetric magnetic field. I do this by adding additional magnets to one side of the magnetic base, all of which are in attraction to the spinning top. This setup makes the magnetic attraction stronger on one side, and as predicted from Experiment 29, the GyroTop once again moves opposite of the magnetic field. Thus it doesn't matter if the magnetic field is symmetrical or asymmetrical, the principle is the same: spinning tops want to balance opposite of the opposing force. In this video, I perform 2 sets of experiments, one of them uses just 1 additional magnet while the second experiment uses 2 additional magnets to provide an even stronger asymmetric magnetic field. In #MESExperiments 31 I have uploaded a video by the late Francis McCabe demonstrating that a group of randomly orientated gyroscopes will automatically align themselves in the direction of an applied torque. McCabe constructed a machine with 4 gyro horizons from World War 2 (WW2) planes fixed to an assembly that is free to rotate manually via a crank. A gyro horizon is an instrument used to measure an aircraft's orientation relative to the Earth's horizon. When McCabe starts the machine, the gyroscopes are spun up with air pressure and start oscillating and/or rotating (which McCabe describes as "motorization"). He notes that their is a self-developed frequency of oscillation and motorization. Then he applies an external torque by rotating the crank and immediately all the gyroscope line up! He notes that the force is felt only initially as the gyros are lining up and then the machines starts "coasting". This machine demonstrates what may well be the first mechanical rendition of inertia, which is a mass' resistance to change or acceleration. The gyros can be considered as tiny atoms, and the inertia that an object possesses is related to how many atoms need to reorient themselves in the direction of applied motion. Interestingly, this gyro assembly is also a good illustration of magnetism, since an externally applied magnetic field causes many tiny magnets to reorient themselves in the applied magnetic field direction. Are atoms and magnets just tiny gyroscopes? gyroscopes of the Aether? I think so! Francis McCabe was an inventor and rocket scientist that had stumbled upon the work of the late great Eric Laithwaite regarding gyroscopes. In #MESExperiments 32 I compare the rising behavior of a Tippe Top, a Phi Top, and an Unspun vs. Spun Up Gyro with 2 degrees of Freedom. The Tippe Top is a mushroom shaped spinning top that rises completely upside down when spun, raising its center of mass. The Phi Top or solid steel egg also rises upwards raising its center of mass when spun up. An unspun gyroscope that is in gimbles such that it can turn about the vertical and horizontal axis will align itself vertically when torqued horizontally. But when that same gyroscope is spun up, torquing it horizontally will make the gyro precess until it lines with the direction of the torque horizontally. In that latter, there are 2 key conditions: stable and unstable torque. When torqued horizontally in the gyro spin direction, the condition is stable and the gyro will not precess. When torqued in the exact opposite direction, the gyro is in an unstable condition and any slight deviation from a perfect horizontal torque will induce precession and flip the gyro completely upside down.
