The Metro-Dimwitt award is awarded to departments and agencies who appear unable or unwilling to self-regulate the addition of warning lights to their emergency vehicles. There are no standards limiting the number, performance or flash frequency for passenger vehicles outfitted or upfitted into emergency vehicles. Consequently agencies can place as many lights as they wish onto their vehicles.
