17-year-old suspect arrested in Baltimore mass shooting that killed 2, wounded 28

Officials announced on Friday that they have arrested and charged a teenager believed to be involved in a mass shooting at a block party in Baltimore over the holiday weekend, which resulted in the deaths of two individuals and left 28 others injured.

The 17-year-old boy was apprehended by members of the homicide and SWAT teams at around 7 a.m. on Friday, following the execution of a search warrant at a residence, according to a news release by the police.

He has been transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he faces charges including possession of a firearm by a minor, possession of an assault weapon, reckless endangerment, and having a handgun in a vehicle. While the release refers to the teenager as a person of interest, he is being charged as an adult.

However, the police have not disclosed his identity due to his status as a minor, as confirmed by Detective Freddie Talbert, a spokesperson for the department, NBC News reported.
