Russia has expressed deep concerns over the unprecedented violence in France that erupted after the death of a 17-year-old Nahel M of Algerian and Moroccan descent for violating a traffic stop. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, "The situation in France must not threaten the security of our common European continent." She also advised Paris to stop criticizing other nations on how they uphold the rule of law and focus instead on solving its own domestic problems and protecting its citizens.
