In this episode Krissy and Elwin discuss why losing weight, and more importantly maintaining a healthy weight long term is so difficult! Elwin goes into the myths about weight loss, why most methods don't work, and why some of the methods that actually do work are actually unsustainable, with long term consequences.
Rather than giving a one size fits all diet or exercise program, this episode is all about discovering what has been your 'weakest link in the chain', the factor that has been holding you back up until now, and how to address it.
In the process, they talk about diets, exercise, the crucial importance of metabolism, hormones like thyroid, cortisol, testosterone, estrogen, prolactin and oxytocin, blood sugar balance, finding the right macro balance for you, genetic factors, and how psychological issues and traumas can all hold you back...and what to do about each of these issues.
They also get into 'fast track' solutions that work, but may have side effects, like using stimulants, semaglutide, and growth hormone.
